Advanced rules: recap
The Advanced rules chapter at a glance: the three furiten, kan in detail (rinshan, kan-dora, chankan) and formal tenpai at the exhaustive draw.
The principle
Furiten forbids ron, never tsumo. Under Tenhou, temporary furiten after passing a completing tile lasts until your next discard; WRC 2025 clears it on your next draw or your own call. After riichi, it lasts through the end of the hand in both profiles.
Rule and example
Under Tenhou, kan-dora appears immediately for ankan, then normally after the discard for open or added kan; WRC reveals it before the discard for every kan. Kakan can be robbed by chankan, while ankan cannot. After riichi, Tenhou requires the wait to stay unchanged, while WRC also requires the structure to remain unchanged.
What changes
At an exhaustive draw, noten players collectively pay 3,000 points to tenpai players. Tenhou recognizes five abortive draw types and nagashi mangan; WRC 2025 recognizes neither and accepts only one ron winner.
