n July 3, 2026, the European Mahjong Association added the seventh European Riichi Championship to its calendar. The tournament will take place in Katowice, Poland, from Thursday, August 5, through Sunday, August 8, 2027, following the 2024 edition in Valencia.
Katowice will host the seventh edition
The seventh edition will run in Katowice over four consecutive days under riichi rules. ERMC is the European Mahjong Association continental championship.
Seven editions since 2008
The championship began in Hannover in 2008 and returned there in 2010. Later editions were held in Bad Vöslau, Farnham, Rosmalen, and Valencia. Katowice will be the first Polish host city.

Claude Sessin, the defending champion
Claude Sessin won the 2024 edition in Valencia on 201,300 points, ahead of Anastasiia Veremenko on 191,400 and Junjie Sun on 178,600. The EMA standings listed 172 players from 28 countries.
