2026 Swedish Riichi Open: Oskar Lappi wins in Stockholm

The podium, the margins, and Stockholm’s place in an already busy European season.

北, the North. Stockholm brought together 52 players on July 11 and 12.

ive weeks after the Berlin open, the European calendar resumed in Stockholm. The Swedish Riichi Open ran on July 11 and 12, 2026, with 52 players. European Mahjong Association standings put Oskar Lappi ahead of Guanzhou Xu and Berke Zorlu.

Five thousand points between first and second

Oskar Lappi finished on 172,800 points. Guanzhou Xu followed on 167,800, a margin of 5,000. Berke Zorlu placed third on 153,700, 14,100 behind Xu. Fourth-placed Niklas Johansson closed the leading group on 115,000.

A 52-player MERS 3 open

EMA lists Stockholm as MERS 3, with 52 players from seven represented countries. Forty-one players were registered under Sweden, five under Finland, with players from Belgium, France, Latvia, Portugal, and Ukraine completing the field.

The Finnish winner therefore topped a field made up mostly of Swedish players. The other two podium places went to players registered under Sweden.

The listing breaks down the MERS 3 rating: two competition days, 0.5 for the country-count criterion, 0.5 for the player-count criterion, and no extra point.
