Kotaro Uchikawa, world champion at home
Kotaro Uchikawa won both hanchan in the final and finished on 73.5 points. Masaharu Tomotake took second on -4.7, ahead of Junseok Yoon on -29.6 and Saki Kurosawa on -39.2.
He becomes the fourth WRC champion after Hiroshi Yamai in 2014, Masaharu Tomotake in 2017, and Keijun Nara in 2022.
Portugal/Spain wins the new team event
Sérgio Matos Lima and Rodrigo Lopes represented Portugal, with Linxuan He and Yeyin Lu representing Spain. Their combined Portugal/Spain team won the first team event in WRC history.
Portugal/Spain finished the final on 102.1 points. China B took second on 48.1, ahead of Japan Full National Team B on 47.8 and Chinese Taipei on 26.5. Two rounds decided the final four.

The next edition in New York in 2028
World Riichi has announced New York as the host city for the fifth championship in 2028. It will be the second WRC held in the United States after Las Vegas in 2017.
