Four Japanese organizations now recognize WR Pro status

JPML, Nihon Pro Mahjong Association, Mahjong Union, and RMU are opening selected events to professionals certified by WRPM. The agreement covers eligibility, not a guaranteed seat.

橋, the bridge. An international certification connected to Japanese circuits.

orld Riichi Professional Mahjong has reached an agreement with the Japan Professional Mahjong League, Nihon Pro Mahjong Association, Mahjong Union, and RMU. WR Pro members may apply for a defined list of leagues, open titles, and qualifiers in Japan, subject to each organizer’s own conditions.

Four organizations and several families of titles

The published list spans leagues, open titles, women’s competitions, and regional circuits. It includes JPML events, the Nihon Pro Mahjong Association’s Japan Open, Mahjong Union’s μ League, and several RMU competitions. Every entry remains subject to the rules of the event itself.

League and women’s competitions carry an additional limit: a player may represent only one professional organization in the same calendar year. The agreement therefore does not allow unrestricted participation in several Japanese leagues at once. It creates a shared framework while each circuit protects its calendar, categories, and membership obligations.

Saikyousen and MONDO widen the field further

The announcement also accepts WR Pros into Saikyousen professional qualifiers and MONDO Pro League. Those events come on top of the four signatories, JPML, Nihon Pro Mahjong Association, Mahjong Union, and RMU, and connect the certification to competitions followed across several parts of Japanese professional mahjong.

Accepted eligibility is not guaranteed selection. Registration, qualifiers, seat limits, schedules, and organizer procedures still apply. For a candidate who meets those conditions, international status simply stops being an automatic barrier.

The exact scope of recognition

The agreement recognizes WR Pro status with JPML, NPM, Mahjong Union, and RMU. It allows applications to events named by those organizations under their own criteria. It guarantees neither employment, income, nor tournament entry.
