Complete riichi yakuman catalog
Explore all twelve Tenhou yakuman, from opening blessings to four winds, four quads, and the nine gates pattern.
The principle
The catalog begins with tenhou, the dealer’s win on the initial deal, and chiihou, a non-dealer tsumo on the first draw with no earlier call or ankan. Kokushi musou, suuankou, and daisangen are covered in the previous lesson.
Rule and example
Tsuuiisou uses only honors. Chinroutou uses only terminals. Ryuuiisou accepts only 2s, 3s, 4s, 6s, 8s, and optionally the green dragon, which is not required.
What changes
Shousuushii requires three wind groups and a pair of the fourth. Daisuushii requires four wind groups. Suukantsu requires four declared quads.
Mistake to avoid
Chuuren poutou is a closed one-suit hand containing 1112345678999 plus one tile of that suit, with no kan. Under Tenhou rules, special kokushi, suuankou, and chuuren waits remain single yakuman, while different yakuman can stack.
