Riichi mahjong yaku list
Check every yaku in the Tenhou profile by value, whether it works open or closed, and the WRC 2025 differences that change the total.
1-han yaku
At 1 han, a closed hand can score riichi, ippatsu, menzen tsumo, pinfu, or iipeikou. Tanyao, yakuhai, chankan, rinshan kaihou, haitei, and houtei can still work in an open hand when the situation allows. Each yakuhai scores separately, and a double-wind triplet scores twice. Dora, uradora, and aka-dora add han, but they are never yaku.
2-han yaku
The 2-han group includes closed-only daburu riichi and chiitoitsu, plus sanshoku doukou, sankantsu, toitoi, sanankou, shousangen, and honroutou. Sanshoku doujun, ittsuu, and chanta are worth 2 han closed but only 1 han open. Shousangen also brings the two yakuhai from its dragon triplets. Honroutou necessarily comes with toitoi or chiitoitsu.
3-han and 6-han yaku
Ryanpeikou is worth 3 han and requires a closed hand. Honitsu is worth 3 han closed or 2 han open. Junchan has the same 3-han closed and 2-han open value. Chinitsu is worth 6 han closed or 5 han open. Higher forms replace their lower forms: ryanpeikou replaces iipeikou, junchan replaces chanta, and chinitsu replaces honitsu. WRC 2025 adds renhou at 5 han; the Tenhou profile does not use that yaku.
Yakuman and bonus tiles
Genuine yakuman in the Tenhou profile include tenhou, chiihou, daisangen, suuankou, suukantsu, kokushi musou, chuuren poutou, shousuushii, daisuushii, tsuuiisou, ryuuiisou, and chinroutou. Different patterns can stack. An ordinary hand with 13 or more han becomes kazoe yakuman under Tenhou; WRC 2025 calls that tier yonbaiman. Dora never increase a genuine yakuman.
How to use this cheatsheet
First confirm that the hand has at least one legal yaku, then add compatible yaku together. Count dora and other bonuses next, and calculate fu after that. A call can remove riichi, menzen tsumo, pinfu, iipeikou, or ryanpeikou, and lowers sanshoku doujun, ittsuu, chanta, junchan, honitsu, and chinitsu by one han. This check prevents a complete but muyaku hand.
