Riichi payments: ron, tsumo, dealer, and honba

Calculate who pays a ron or tsumo win, then add honba and riichi deposits correctly to the final point transfer between players.

The principle

On ron, the discarder pays alone. A non-dealer receives four times the base points and the dealer six times, then the total rounds up to the next hundred.

Rule and example

On a non-dealer tsumo, East pays two times the base points and the other two players pay one time each. On a dealer tsumo, everyone pays two times the base points. Every share rounds separately.

What changes

At 3 han 30 fu, base points are 960. Non-dealer ron becomes 3,900. Non-dealer tsumo is announced as 1,000 / 2,000: each non-dealer pays 1,000 and East pays 2,000.

Mistake to avoid

Each honba adds 300 to ron or 100 to every tsumo share. The winner collects 1,000-point riichi deposits without changing the hand’s han or fu.
